Landfill sampling
One of the major pollutants in landfills originates from the leachate generated by the breakdown of waste. Leachate can enter the ground below landfills to contaminate soil and groundwater even after landfills are closed. Consequently, there are short-term and long-term effects of landfills on their surrounding environment with potential to affect human health over long periods of time. ChemServe has worked for many years with public and private landfills throughout New England providing landfill sampling and analysis services. Our landfill services include:
- Landfill groundwater permit compliance
- Groundwater monitoring well sampling
- Surface water sampling
- Static water elevation
- Low-Flow sample technique
Our purge and low-flow sampling services meet current NELAC, NHDES and MADEP standards.
Low-flow landfill sampling
ChemServe has specialized equipment for monitoring well chemistry. Our well pumps for low-flow purging are submersible and specifically designed for low-flow sampling in 1.5 and 2 inch wells. Field parameters are measured using a state-of-the-art electronic flow cells which can monitor the following parameters in real time:
- Temperature
- Dissolved oxygen (DO)
- Specific conductivity (SC)
- Oxidation reduction potential (ORP)
- pH
- Turbidity
More information about low-flow sampling can be found at the EPA web-site.
